RECAP
Try Andy's Tri - October 01 2007 (300 m Swim / 11 m Bike / 5K Run)
Cinco Ranch Triathlon - August 27 2006 (600 m Swim / 15 m Bike / 5K Run)
Jeff & Brede Trithlon - Katy, TX - July 09 2006 (300 m Swim / 12 m Bike/ 5K Run)
Tejas Triathlon - Sugar Land, TX - June 11, 2006
800 m Swim / 11 miles Bike / 3 miles Run
I finally did my first tri & finished it!
Swim - 16:02: well, I didn't expect the swim to be that crazy! Also, that was my first open water try. I
put myself in the back, to the right... that wasn't really smart of me... It was a mess to pass people &
at one moment I got a big kick in my stomach, drank water, couldn't breathe... drank more water, got
few other kicks from everywhere & thought I was just going to sink! I had to concentrate harder to
pace myself.
Transition - 1:51 : I run to the transition, didn't feel so good
as I almost puke (sorry...), must have drink too much of
that muddy water. Sat, took my time & drank a little gatorade
(I wanted something sweet).
Bike - 34:30 : I felt great, it was really hot but the race was
fast & flat.
Transition - 1:27 : As I was changing shoes, I felt tired.
Run - 30:17 : I kept walking & running, couldn't find my pace
as I was too tired to run at a 8-9 minutes/mile pace.
Went back to my half-marathon pace...
Total - 1:24:05
Well, I was really happy with my swim time (never swam that quick on a 880 yards before, even at
training), but I think I lost few second to pass people. Bike, I know I could have been faster. I thought
I will keep a little energy for the run. Next one, I will give everything I have in the bike as I know I'm not
really good at running & I wouldn't be worse (well I hope !!!). Also, I will eat more in the morning, I
wasn't hungry & ate just a little piece of bread with water. I think I had no energy after the bike
because of that.
It was great, I loved it! I'm ready to do the next one already.
I wanted to thank everybody from the club that encouraged me along the race. I don't know your
name but it helped me a lot, that was great.

Landed in Paris around noon the day before. It was so cold ! I kept drinking hot tea when I went to
pick- up my bib.
I can feel the jet-lag, the cold. I wanted to stay in bed at the hotel the next morning .
A little sad not to cross the finish line under 2 hours, but new PR !

Marathon de Houston - January 18, 2004 - 05:17:17 -
Started running beginning of September 2003... A stupid bet with myself !
4:30 AM - Alarm clock, shower. I'm going outside on the patio, it's freezing !
5:00 AM - Breakfast, coffee & a cereal bar.
5:30 AM - Departure, I turn the heat in the car.
6:15 AM - I'm waiting in the building, looking around at everybody. It's a nice feeling.
6:45 AM - I'm at the starting line & I'm freezing !
7:00 AM - The girl beside me realize that she's not in the good line, she's running the half !
3 miles : Houston is not flat when we go up the bridge !
9 miles : The half runners are leaving us... I'm thinking I should have gone with them... :)
9 to 13 miles : I'm running with the 5 hours balloon. The coach is singing, everybody is laughing.
13 miles : Finally, I feel good so far... I tell my husband I didn't walk yet. :)
13 to 17 miles : This part is not friendly at all, few people on the side, it's not motivated at all & I'm feeling tired.
18 miles : A guy shows me a little paper with his time on it... He's saying, "Ok this is just BS now, I'll be happy if I only can finish !" :)
My husband & son are cheering me, they can tell I'm dead already. My husband is saying, you're almost there... still... 8 miles !!!
20 miles : I stop to go to the bathroom, you know this little portable thing... Well I got stuck in it ! I cannot feel my legs anymore... my back is killing me too ! :)

After 15 minutes, I can finally get out ! I want to walk, ok it's painful... running is even worse... so what do I do now ???
Runners around me are looking the same, that's comforting ! :) We are trying to cheer us up !
20 to 22 miles : We go through the park I trained. I think the road is longer than a few days ago !
23 to 24 miles : My knee is killing me now... I'm counting the light, 1 - 2 - 3.
24 miles : My 2 cheerleader are running with me for 200 m, feels good !
25 miles : Are we there yet ???
26 miles : I run faster to cross the finish line... I think I have brain damage here !
26.2 miles ! Yeah !!!!! I did it !
I am dead. :) I can't even walk.
Finisher picture, I'm going to be awful on that one ! :) I'm going inside the building to eat a little.
I finally find with my 2 cheerleader. They missed me at the finish line because they had to park (I was too fast ! ). My son
is crying, he thought I didn't finish under 6 hours so I didn't get the medal. So cute !
13:00 PM - My husband is carrying me on his back to go to the car.
I've got a life of memories ! I don't think I will even do that again ! :)

See you next year !
Can you see the moon?
